Thought I’d share a few recent questions today: Question: To a layperson like me, Chi Kung appears to be just gentle movements combined with breathing. How can Qigong improve a person’s health? Marcus: To all laypeople, to nearly all Qigong practitioners (and far to many Qigong teachers too), qigong is exactly like you mention – [...]
Qigong Question And Answer Series
I receive a lot of questions each month, many of them are private and of relevance only to the person asking. But the majority of questions hold value and interest to everyone. My plan is to share those here with you.
This project is entirely driven by your questions, so if you have a question please ask it. You can send them to: secretary[at]qigong15[dot]com. Replacing [at] with @ and [dot] with . You wouldn’t believe how much junk I get each day.
To save time, if you send a question to me, it’s on the understanding that I can share it, and my answer here. Unless you clearly ask me not to. I will of course automatically change the name of the person asking the question to preserve anonymity.
The aim of this project is to build up a database of useful Qigong answers that students can use as a resource for deepening their understanding of Qigong.
Question 1 Hi Marcus, Thank you for your email and the encouragement for asking questions. A few months ago I attended a Shaolin Qi Gong Semimar in Germany with Grandmaster Shi Yan Liang, a Shaolin monk. Question 1 Hi Marcus, The question has to do with the positioning of the knees in the Shaolin Qigong. When I practise tai chi, we are taught to have the shoulders very slightly “hunched” shall we say, or relaxed inward, and the knees are slightly bent. It looks like in the qi gong you are [...]

Photo by gevengosoccer. Question 1 Hello Marcus, I heard a podcast interview where they talk about wai-chi as a protective chi that helps people to shield their energy fields from outside negative energies (such as other peoples negative attitudes). Selection of Qigong Questions & Answers June 2011 Mind mastery is perhaps the biggest challenge faced by all Qigong practitioners. Selection Of Qigong Questions & Answers May 2011 Part 2 I usually only have one Qigong Q & A a month, but I’ve decided to have two this month. There are two main reasons: 1) I can’t think of anything to write about that’s worth sharing (it happens). 2) I’ve had so many questions coming [...]

SELECTION OF QIGONG QUESTION & ANSWERS MAY 2011 More is not always more. Especially when practicing Qigong. Usually, the practice of more than 1 qigong exercise in a Qigong session means that that session is at a lower level than if only 1 is practiced. Medical Qigong is an example where more than one qigong [...]
