Well, there’s no going back now.
Yesterday evening I finally bit the bullet and checked in online for my flight to Gothenburg, Sweden.
And in case you’re wondering… I’m going to Gothenburg so you don’t have to.
Let me explain.
A couple of years ago I made a shocking discovery.
Yeah, yeah, I know it’s a well worn cliche but hitting 40 really forced me to stop and take stock.
After 10 years of authentic Qigong practice I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror.
I looked like I was 5 months pregnant or ‘Skinny Fat‘ as I discovered it’s called.
Well, 2 years later I’m happy to say I’ve completely nailed that problem.
And I’m stronger and fitter now than I was in my 30’s.
You can read all about it here in this post if you wish: Qigong and Weight Loss
Now pay close attention.
Because here’s what no other person teaching Qigong out there is gonna tell you.
It’s time to spill the beans on Qigong…
Practicing Qigong has helped me to be emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthy, but the truth is from a physical fitness perspective it doesn’t deliver the goods.
And as I always knew, but only recently discovered the reason why, aerobic exercise is bad for you.
Long story short, I discovered the solution to the physical fitness conundrum to be…
Old school calisthenics.
The kind o’stuff they had you doing in school:
- Pull Ups
- Body weight squats
- Leg raises
You see my extensive research into this subject has convinced me our bodies have physically evolved to do the following:
- Lots of walking
- Very brief (short) sprints
- Some heavy lifting
The walking part is easy.
Simply add more walking into your daily life and like I wrote on page 33 of Smiling From The Heart , you’ll be adding significantly to your physical, emotional and mental health.
Sprinting is easy too.
Simply run as fast as you can until you’re out of breath and then STOP.
You can repeat again if you like once your heart rate and breathing have gone completely gone back to normal.
Don’t over do it Grasshopper!
Remember the popular exercise mantra:
“No Pain No Gain” is banned around here!
But the tricky part is the heavy lifting.
You see one of the many things I completely adore about Qigong is that you don’t need any extra equipment to be able to do it.
Wherever you are, you’re pretty much good to go.
And with calisthenics or Body Weight Training (BWT) you are you’re own gym!
Look, my aim is to equip you with the tools you need to be able to go from wherever you are right now and get to where you want to be:
As quickly, easily and safely as possible.
Qigong goes a huge way to getting you there, but it’s my controversial belief that if you truly want to live a life worth loving you need to be doing physical exercise in addition to your Qigong practice.
And it should be the kind of exercise that is safe because your body has evolved over 200,000 years to thrive on it.
I’ve already given you two of the pieces you need.
And on 1st November to 3rd I’ll be studying for my Progressive Calisthenics Certificate.
So I can provide you with the 3rd.
It’s taken me 2 years of trial and error, sweat and frustration to work this physical exercise puzzle out.
And a lot of people aren’t going to be happy with what I’ve written today.
I get it.
Because there was a time I believed Qigong was the ‘magic bullet’ for all of your ills.
But you’re smart enough to know the only magic bullets are in the movies.
Simply add regular walking, the occasional sprint and some heavy lifting to your life, practice your Qigong too and get ready for a powerful health transformation.
Right, I’m outta space and outta time.
If you want to dig deeper into this subject and discover the 3rd ingredient I recommend to do everything you can to really stack the odds of living a happy, healthy and long life in your favour…
In it I reveal everything, well, you’ll be pleased to know I keep my shorts on =)
Bye for now
