Have you ever come across this phrase or one of it’s many derivatives?

Keep Calm And Carry On

Maybe it’s just a UK phenomenon.

Or maybe it’s worldwide?

I don’t know.

But it’s certainly continuing to grow in popularity right now.

I guess its message is as relevant today as it was back in 1939 when it was created to raise the morale of the British public in case of invasion.

I’ve even got a copy of the orignal poster produced by the Ministry of Information on the wall in my office. Clarabella bought it for me too many years ago to remember.

Moving on…

Clarabella, Ollie and I were in one of the big bookstores recently. Ollie had his head stuck in a ‘Where’s Wally?‘ book, Clarabella was in the crime section and I was all over the place =)

I love bookshops, I love the smell, I love the covers, I love soaking up the 1000’s of ideas that book titles spark off in my imagination.

And as I wandered around the big Waterstones in Exeter I was struck by how many “Keep Calm” based books and products were available.

Keep Calm and Bake Cakes

Keep Calm You’re Only 70

Keep Calm and Drink Up

Keep Calm for Dads

And my favourite one, a brown mug with “Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate“.

What’s this got to do with Qigong I hear you ask?

A fair question. I tend to forget that few people see everything through a ‘Qigong‘ filter =)

As I saw all the “Keep Calm and …” books and products I felt everyone was missing the point.

I think the slogan in 2012 should be:

Practice Qigong and Be Calm

And yet I bet if I’d have asked everyone in Waterstones if they knew what Qigong was, only a handful if any would say yes.

Perhaps the most simple yet powerful, drug free tool available to armour plate your Emotional Immune System and it’s still overshadowed by Tai Chi and Yoga.

Come on guys and gals, we’ve got to share the Qigong word.

You do know what Qigong is and if you want to practice it specifically to manage the stresses and strains of life in the 21st Century, you’ll find everything you need in my book: Smiling From The Heart.
