I’m so busy writing my new Qigong book ‘Smiling From The Heart’ that I was tempted to not make any Qigong blog posts until I’d finished. But that thought didn’t feel very comfortable. So whilst I don’t have any specific comments to share, I thought I’d give you a brief update as to what’s going on at Qigong15 so far this year. Oh, and if you’re wondering why the video ended so abruptly, that would be because Louis decided to go and by Labrador friendly with somebody who didn’t appreciate being love mugged so early in the morning =)
Qigong 365 Project – What now?
It was with a big sigh of relief that I wrapped up the Qigong365 project on the 31st December 2011. Writing a daily Qigong blog post for 365 days was tough, but it taught me an invaluable lesson – to never give up. With the help of my friends, my Qigong training and divine intervention I succeeded with my goal.
I wasn’t quite sure what to do with this project in 2012. I was certain I was in no hurry to start writing another 365 Qigong blog posts that’s for sure. Luckily enough people on the Qigong secrets Facebook page said the same thing that I was convinced. That a post can be read more than once and still be of value. So the Q365 project lives on. There are new people discovering it everyday and for them the content is new and fresh.
But what about those of you who have been on this ride with me for a while now? That’s where the idea for a random post generator came from and a solution has been found. If you go to the Q365 home page, over in the right hand column, you’ll see a big blue button with the words ‘Qigong Inspiration’ written on it. Underneath it, just follow the big red arrows, you’ll see a link you can press. Press that and you will be taken to a random post from the 365 Qigong blog posts available on the site.
So if you’re new to the Q365 project, just follow along with the daily dose of Qigong goodness. But if you’ve been here a while, or you just need a dose of Qigong inspiration for your practice – use the random post generator and see what pops up.
Qigong Secrets Home Study Course – The physical version
I’ve now got 10 hard copy, versions of the QSHSC. Talk about exclusive. Once these are gone they are gone. I will never put these together again.
Why?
Because each one has cost me a small fortune to make. I foolishly set out to make the best quality product I possibly could. I wanted full color, double sided printing of the Pdf’s on high quality paper. I invested far too many hours taking the original video material and re-editing it for the DVD’s, so that the quality would be better than the online streamed version. Have you seen the cost of video editing software and laser printing ink cartridges?
The bottom line is that if I charged what it cost me to make each one – nobody could buy it. A bit like the Bugatti Veyron, I’m actually going to take a financial loss on each one. That’s why I am confident when I say – once these 10 sets have gone. They are gone for ever. But they sure are beautiful and I’m proud of them. They will be available in the next few weeks (once I’ve sorted my Tax Return out) and I’ll keep you posted.
Qigong ‘Refer A Friend’ Program
Yesterday I invested a significant amount of cash in hiring a professional copywriter to take a look at the QSHSC web page. I put it together quickly about a year ago. It’s okay, but it’s far from brilliant. One of the valuable lessons I’ve learned from offering 75% of each and every sale to the person who refers a friend to the QSHSC, is that I am able to reach far more people than on my own efforts alone.
I have a few people who make a healthy monthly income from promoting the QSHSC, but I know that a better written home page will help them significantly. I consider the QSHSC ‘Refer A Friend’ program to be a real win/win situation. You can earn up to $100 for each person who takes up the $4.95 two week trial and I gain a new student that I can help to benefit from the practice of Qigong.
In 2012 I plan to spend time helping everyone – regardless of technical ability – to be able to access and benefit from the QSHSC RAF program. I’ll keep you updated.
Dr Roger Jahnke
I had the honor of speaking with the legendary Dr Roger Jahnke OMD yesterday via Skype. I discovered that I was 1 when he took his first course in Oriental medicine! It was an absolute delight to speak with him and I hope that we’ll be able to work together in some way shape or form in the future.
You know, it’s been just over 2 years since I went it alone in the world of Qigong and it has been very, very difficult at times. The temptation to give up and throw in the towel happened on many occasions. But Qigong is my love and my passion. I don’t know what else I could enjoy doing so much. So I’ve stuck it out and yesterday’s conversation with Roger, just felt like: ‘At last I’m starting to make progress.‘
When a person with Rogers experience, qualifications and background reaches out asks to speak with you – that’s a great feeling. And the best bit? He’s such a great guy. I really enjoyed our time together and I hope it will be the first of many talks.
Warning – Blue Monday’s Coming
Having experienced depression and financial crisis and the affects both can have on all aspects of your life, the subject of mental well being is a top priority to me. It’s been the driving force behind the new book: Smiling From The Heart that I’m writing. I consider it a duty to inform all readers that ‘Blue Monday‘ is on the horizon. Knowledge can certainly be power if it enables you to understand why you are feeling a particular way, if it helps you to know that there are things you can do and that it will pass.
Traditionally the 3rd Monday of the new year has been labelled the most depressing day of the year. It takes into consideration the following factors:
- Motivational Levels – The post festive come down when we realise that we are still the same person we were at the end of 2011.
- Feelings of Failure – The fact that for many of us the New Year resolutions we made are falling by the wayside as our old habits regain their hold.
- Money – For many people payday is still too far away.
- Debt – The credit card bills and bank statements have arrived and often make unpleasant viewing.
- Weather – For many of us the weather this time of year doesn’t help. It’s cold, it’s dark and does little to lift the spirit.
- And more.
If you’re feeling less than your best – you are not alone, now is the time to take action. Qigong is a great way to keep your spirits high, but there are other sources of help available too. I’d strongly recommend that you make use of the following resources:
Smiling From The Heart Book
The best bit of news is that AnnA Rushton, the lady who edited my first book: Shaolin Chi Kung, has come on board to edit the new one. So you can rest assured that it will be a good read. She has the unenviable task of taking my ramblings and helping me to structure them into something useful.
Also whilst researching Self Compassion or Self Esteem I discovered a wonderful interview my good friend Michael Myerscough did with Lisa Merlo-Booth here’s a snapshot of what I learned:
The only qualification for being worthy is that I am human. I am not worthy because I have a lot of money, I am not worthy because I have a great job, I am not worthy because I have skills, I’m not worthy because you married me and so on. I am worthy because I am human. I cannot increase my worth as a human being nor reduce it. We are all worthy.
“A life is a life is a life” – Lisa Merlo-Booth
For someone who has struggled with feelings of self worth in the past (and still does from time to time), this understanding was like a breath of fresh air. I don’t have to earn my worth. I am worthy and healthy self esteem is recognizing this and holding myself in warm regard despite the fact that I make mistakes and screw up every now and then.
Unhealthy self esteem is when I forget this and I think I am “One Up” on you:
Grandiosity – sounds like this: You’re stupid, you’re lazy, you’re a loser, you don’t know how to…
Or when I forget my inherent worth and go “One Down” from you:
Toxic Shame – sounds like this: I’m stupid, I’m lazy, I’m a loser, I don’t know how to…
You’ll have to read the book for the full story and I hope to be able to get my hands on a really useful gift that will help anyone struggling with self esteem and boundaries. All I want you to get from this post is the following: “You’re enough and you matter” – repeat this to yourself frequently every day and see if it helps…
Quick Story:
A man goes to the gym to get back into shape. He’s let himself go for the last decade and has packed on a significant amount of unnecessary padding. He asks his trainer how long it will take to get back into shape. The trainer looks him up and down and replies: “2 years“. Seeing how crest fallen the man is, the trainer adds: “But you’ll start to feel better by next week“.
I can’t remember where I heard this story, but it reminded me of Qigong. I frequently tell people that Qigong is no 30 day miracle cure. It took time to get into the situation you’re in now and it will take time to get out of it. If you’re learning Qigong directly from a good teacher you can expect it to take 3 to 6 months before you notice significant results and much longer if you’re learning from a book.
But, you can definitely expect to feel better, often after your very first Qigong session. Feelings of inner peace, being more physically relaxed, mentally alert and clear are common and frequent benefits from Qigong practice.
If you haven’t started practicing Qigong yet or want to learn something new check out my free 21 day online Qigong course.
Right, this book isn’t going to write itself and unfortunately I’ve still got to collect all the information for my accountant to complete my Tax Return. So I shall bid you farewell for now.
Enjoy your Qigong practice.
