Have you ever wondered when the best time is to practice your chi kung/qigong exercises? Well this blog post was written just for you to answer that question.
Let’s clear up one part of that question first. There is no single best time to practice qigong, other than the time you practice it. There are however times when it is advantageous to practice and times when it is not good to practice.
A good time to practice qigong in the morning is between 5am and 9am. And a good time to practice your qigong exercises in the evening is between 5pm and 10pm.
The ‘best‘ time to practice in a morning is at sunrise. Qigong masters refer to this as the time of CREATIVE ENERGY. And the ‘best’ time to practice in an evening is midnight. This is the time of BLOSSOMING ENERGY.
Personally I like to practice my qigong first thing in the morning when I wake up and a few hours before I go to sleep in the evening. Which luckily fits in with the times mentioned above.
Now what about the bad times to practice your qigong exercises? The past masters advised avoiding practicing qigong between noon and 3pm. The reason they gave is that at such times the cosmic energy was too ‘forceful’.
It’s also worth mentioning at this point that you should not practice in direct sunlight. When you practice qigong your pores and your whole body is opening up and direct sunlight can be harmful to you in such a situation. Best to find some shade or practice in doors.
I’d just like to finish off by saying that it’s okay to practice qigong between 12pm and 3pm every now and then if you have no choice. Say for example you were on a flight for 12 hours to Malaysia and you wanted to practice lifting the sky before take off to help you with jet lag.
But your flight is at 3pm, what do you do? You practice your qigong. Every now and then is alright. The key is to avoid practicing all the time between 12pm and 3pm.
When I first started practicing qigong, I used to believe that everything relating to qigong practice was carved in stone. Now I realise that very little is carved in stone, much of it is there for guidance.
Bye for now

Thank you Marcus. I am throughly enjoying my practice and look forward to it. I have various medical conditions that prevent me doing lots of things but I find Qigong very beneficial and as I said before really enjoyable.
