The Sunday Quote:

“The question to ask is… Are we eating the foods we were designed to eat
and living the lifestyles our genes are expecting?”
Dr Lane Sebring

Wow, I woke up with a real hangover this morning.

A sugar hangover, because I haven’t had an alcoholic drink in nearly 4 years.

But the way sugar is processed in the body means it has similar effects to the way alcohol is. The big difference is alcohol has a greater impact on brain functioning than sugar.

However your kidneys, liver, stomach and small intestines still take a beating.

And the results are:

  • Dehydration
  • Stomach ache
  • Disrupted sleep

To name a few.

And with it being Ollie’s birthday yesterday I ate a lot of sugar, especially chocolate.

He seemed fine this morning, but as for me, blargh!

Even my morning Qigong practice couldn’t shift it.

Plus the amount of time we spent sat on our asses won’t have helped either.

Seems a marathon Minecraft session takes quite a toll.

Ollie was 12 yesterday and that’s how he wanted to celebrate. Fortunately that’s not how we live each day.

And it’s not his birthday today, so he’s back on the wagon…

Just like me.

But what’s fascinating is how yesterday’s activities flew in the face of what your body has evolved to eat and the lifestyle your genes thrive on.

And the result was feeling crap.

No surprise right?

I can only imagine the impact of a lifestyle where junk food and inactivity are the norm.

Moving on…

So, if the questions to ask are:

What should you be eating
What kind of lifestyle are your genes expecting?

I believe the answers are:

You should be eating:

  • Lean muscle meat
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Lots of veggies
  • Small amounts of fruit
  • Nuts
  • Reduce or eliminate grains, beans, potatoes and dairy
  • Fish oil

Your genes are expecting:

  • Movement – Quite simply your body has evolved to move.

I guess yesterday proved to be a very valuable experiment in what happens when you give your body an abundance of what it doesn’t thrive on. And personally I’m in no hurry to repeat it today.

You see 3 years ago I started to make some major changes to my life.

As cliched as it might seem, my 40th birthday had a huge impact on me. As I looked in the mirror and took a cold, hard, truthful look at myself…

I didn’t like what I saw and I didn’t like how I felt.

And for the last 3 years I’ve been digging deep into the answering the two questions in this Qigong Daily.

The ZEN+ Journal is the result.

If you want to live a healthier, happier and longer life, you’ll find the full story here.

Bye for now

P.S. I have 1 copy left of my 6 DVD Qigong Secrets Home Study Course (QSHSC) box set.

Yesterday to celebrate Ollie’s 12th birthday I made it available with a $150 reduction.

If you want it, it’s available here.

Once it’s gone I’ll take this special offer page down.
