Qigong Distant Energy Healing

During a lunch with Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, the conversation turned to distant energy healing. He described a time he had agreed to transmit Qi to a student thousands of miles away — only to realise, while sitting in an Indian restaurant, that the scheduled time had just passed. He proceeded with the transmission anyway. When he called the student afterwards, the student confirmed they had felt Qi flow shortly after the scheduled time — and asked why they had noticed such a strong smell of curry.

For most people, distant energy transmission sounds implausible. Understanding how it’s possible requires understanding four things about Qi.

Four Key Concepts About Qi

1. Qi is energy. There are many types — Gu Qi (derived from food and drink), Zong Qi (produced from food and air by the lungs), Yuan Qi (inherited from parents), Ying Qi (the nourishing form of Yuan Qi), Wei Qi (the body’s defensive energy) — as well as Qi relating to physical, mental, and spiritual energy.

2. Qi has material reality. The world we experience through our senses is a tiny fraction of what exists and is measurable. That Qi is invisible to the naked eye does not make it unreal.

3. Qi is the basic building block of the universe. Qigong masters and Chinese philosophers have long held that Qi is the fundamental material from which everything is composed.

4. Qi fills the whole universe. If Qi is the basic building block of all matter, it follows that Qi is present throughout the universe — with no gaps and no boundaries.

Why Distance Is Not an Obstacle

If you could examine your hand under a sufficiently powerful microscope — one that revealed the energetic level of matter — you would not be able to detect where your hand ended and space began. At the atomic level, matter is more like a gas than a solid. The distance between protons, neutrons, and electrons is vast relative to their size.

When there is no energetic boundary between individuals — because Qi acts as a connecting medium throughout the universe — a qigong master can transmit a Qi signal to another person regardless of distance.

The Two Skills Required

Merging the mind with the universe. The master merges the Qi within their body with the Qi of the universe, creating a connection. Think of a long solid rod connecting two people — push one end, and the other end moves instantly. When inner Qi merges with universal Qi, that connection is established.

Converting Qi to Shen. When a student is physically present, a healer can transmit Qi directly. Over great distances, this isn’t possible — so the healer converts Qi into Shen (mind-power), which is then transmitted and received by the student as Qi. The process is analogous to an email being converted into data, transmitted, and reconstructed at the other end.

Skills like qigong distant energy healing are advanced and require direct instruction from a qualified qigong teacher. They are not something to attempt from a written description alone.
