Recall that your Qi (vital energy) flows through the energy streams of your body and these streams are called ‘The Meridians’.
- When your Qi flows harmoniously through the meridians, you will have good health.
- When your Qi flows harmoniously and vigorously you will have good health and vitality.
- When your Qi flows harmoniously, vigorously and abundantly you will have good health, vitality and longevity.
The problem is that life in the 21st century seems to be characterized by lack of proper rest, too much unhealthy stress, poor diet and burning the candle at both ends.
The result is blockages to harmonious energy flow.
Qigong is such a powerful tool for health, vitality and longevity because it first removes these blockages and then increases energy flow.
But you know what I discovered recently?
This concept of vital energy flow doesn’t just apply to your body, it applies to all areas of your life.
I became aware of this as a result of my computers performance slowing down. Granted it is getting on a bit now, as measured by the technology time scale, but I really didn’t want to have to buy another one just yet.
Taking a look at the hard drive I was shocked to see how much rubbish was on it:
- Pdf’s – most of which I never finished reading.
- MP3’s – most of which I never finished listening to.
- MP4’s – most of which I never finished watching.
- Software – Evernote, Skype, Instant Messenger and a whole host of programs draining my computers performance. Especially as many of them are running in the background and are rarely if ever used.
I realized I didn’t need a new computer, I just needed to get rid of the clutter. The result is a computer that’s as quick as I remember it.
I extended this ‘get rid of the clutter‘ concept to other areas of my life. I looked at my bookshelves, I looked in my wardrobe, I looked in my desk drawers.
And I got rid of a lot of old, unused, unhelpful, unfashionable junk.
Another great example is my office space.
I got rid of empty cardboard boxes that had been stuffed in a corner, I threw out an old desktop computer that was sat in the other corner, I emptied my paper recycle bin that was so full it was spewing content onto the floor – you get the picture.
The result? I love going into my office now and working. Until I got rid of all the blockages in it I hadn’t realised just how much I didn’t really enjoy being in it.
Instead of being stifling it now feels free, roomy, airy and a great place to create in.
You might begin to wonder as you read this, what areas of your life are being affected by blocked energy flow?
Your time? Too much time invested in projects that you don’t enjoy or that are not productive? Watching too much TV? Computer game playing? Hey, listen I like to ‘escape’ as much as the next person, but you can have too much of a good thing.
Your life? Too many rigid ideas/blockages for how it should be?
Your contact with the ‘God’ of your choice? I believe we are all waves on the infinite ocean or branches of the vine. We are unique and we are individual but we are not alone, we are all connected to God, the Tao, the Source – whatever name you like to call the infinite. But the question is how much of the ‘divine‘ are we allowing to flow through us as us?
I believe it always comes back to you and me. To the individual. Some people are not happy with this. When I wrote recently about how you’ve got to want to get better, I was accused by some as laying the blame for not getting well on the patient and not on the doctor/healer.
This isn’t some “Self Help” guilt trip. There are approximately 6.8 billion other people sharing this planet with you. All with their own wants and needs and some of them are going to think nothing of driving over the top of you to get them.
Yup, that’s right shit does happen. Even to great Qigong masters.
I’m not saying you can control everything, though I believe we have more influence over the events in our lives than many of us are comfortable believing.
But if not you then who?
Personally I’d rather be response able (responsible) for my actions and my situation because then I can do something about it.
I am continually amazed at the power of my Qigong training for improving every single aspect of my life, but this no longer comes as a surprise to me.
Why?
Cast your mind back. Can you remember the “4 things everyone should know about Qi”?
#3 is:
“Qi is the basic building block of the universe”
I.e. everything is Qi and if it can’t flow, whether it’s through your computer, your office, your house, your body, or any area of your life because of blockages – whether they be in the form of old information, clutter, or poor lifestyle choices – then the result is always undesirable.
The solution?
You just need to clean up and get rid of the blockages that you can and let your Qigong training help you clear the rest.
